<p style="margin-top: 0px;margin-bottom: 1em"><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri;">As the first semester has come to a close, I hope that you and your children are enjoying the respite of a long weekend. I want to take this time to clarify a few items regarding attendance for this semester. Please review these six reminders.</span></p>

<li><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri;">1.</span><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri;">Please review page 50 in the Parent/Student Handbook, where most of this email originates.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri;">2.</span><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri;">Please email </span><a href="mailto:usattendance@sidwell.edu"><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri; color: #0000e9;">usattendance@sidwell.edu</span></a><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri;"> every time that your student will be absent, late, or needing special permissions. You may also reach the Dean of Students office by dialing (202) 537-8160.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri;">3.</span><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri;">Please remember that all students are due in class by 8:00 am, and those with a free period are to sign in at the Dean of Students office by 8:00 am as well. (2</span><sup><span style="font-family: Calibri;">nd</span></sup><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri;"> Semester Senior Privilege described in item #5 below). </span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri;">4.</span><span style="text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri;">Lateness</span><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri;">: All students are expected to attend all their classes. Please note the following excerpt from page 50 in the handbook: <em>“Students who are not well enough to come to school by 8:45 am should not attend school that day. Invalid reasons for lateness include catching up on sleep, finishing a paper due that day, taking extra time to study, etc. A student who is ill and might be contagious may not attend school.”</em> It is the school’s right to determine whether an absence or lateness is excused.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri;">5.</span><span style="text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri;">2</span><sup><span style="font-family: Calibri;">nd</span></sup><span style="text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri;"> Semester Senior Privilege</span><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri;">: For the second semester only, seniors are not bound by the 8:00 am and 8:45 am rules. Seniors may arrive at school in time for their first obligation (class, meeting, Advisory, Collection, etc.), and may also leave school at the end of their final obligation. If their first class begins at 10:36am and their last ends at 1:41pm, they might have a very short day at school. Please be aware of your seniors' schedule for each day.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri;">6.</span><span style="text-decoration: underline; font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri;">Pre-excused Absences</span><span style="font-size: 14pt; font-family: Calibri;">: Please submit these requests at least one week prior to the anticipated day. </span></li>
