Dear Friend:

I wanted to send you a short note to let you know that after five years of doing some of the most meaningful and interesting work of my career, the time has come to move on. Serving as Senator Coons' chief of staff has been a privilege, and has allowed me to work on a number of issues critical to Delaware and the country. It also taught me the "Delaware Way," an approach that relies on civil and bipartisan collaboration to generate successful outcomes.

As you know, Chris Coons is a unique brand of public servant. He is highly regarded by his colleagues - both Democrats and Republicans - certainly for his intellect, but also for his character, pragmatism, and genuine desire to solve problems for the good of the country.

I've had the opportunity to work with some extraordinary people during my tenure here, starting with our own talented office staff, as well as 99 other chiefs of staff, who are some of the most decent and dedicated folks I've ever known. It's also been a pleasure to get to know so many smart people in the business, nonprofit, and advocacy communities, who challenge policymakers to consider a variety of perspectives before making decisions.

I have had a wonderful nine years working in the Senate - five with Chris and four with Patty Murray and Tom Daschle - and I'm excited to be joining Cornerstone Government Affairs, a pragmatic and bipartisan firm, with committed and hardworking people. So it will not be a professional stretch. And I will have more time with my wife and kids!

I am grateful for your friendship and support over the years. And I look forward to staying in touch.
