What the President and his administration have done in achieving the Iranian nuclear agreement is an enormous victory for American diplomacy. For the first time, after 35 years of bitter animosity, US and Iranian diplomats are talking with each other. It is well to remember that during the eight years of the Bush/Cheney administration, US diplomats were not even allowed to speak to their Iranian counterparts. Second, as recent events have proven, contrary to all the nonsense and speculation in the media, think tanks and the nay-saying Iranophobes in the Congress, President Rouhani of Iran has the backing of the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. What the Iran detractors continue to fail to understand is the power of President Obama's strong resolve and what astute diplomacy can achieve. Witness Iran keeping its end of the nuclear bargain and its quick return of our naval personnel plus the release of our citizens held in Iran.
