In-app tipping is coming. From 5-star ratings to compliments, and soon with tipping, our app gives you many ways to say thanks. To ensure a smooth, uninterrupted ride, you can tip drivers after your trip at a time when it\u2019s convenient for you. Tips go directly to drivers; Uber takes zero service fees.

Starting on June 20, 2017, in-app tipping is available in Seattle, Minneapolis, and Houston. We\u2019re launching with 3 cities, so we can get the experience right before rolling out to every U.S. city by the end of July 2017.

How it works

Download the latest version of the app.

1. Add a tip after rating your ride. Select from a range of preset amounts, or enter a custom tip. You can also include a personal note.

2. Tap Done to send the tip.

To reduce wait time for drivers, we\u2019re introducing a per-minute fee for riders, beginning 2 minutes after your driver arrives at your pickup location. We\u2019re also shortening the cancellation window. You now have 2 minutes, instead of 5, to cancel a ride without incurring a fee.
