The Senate's Obamacare repeal bill would leave 22 million more Americans uninsured over a decade, according to a CBO analysis of the legislation. That represents just a small improvement over the coverage losses that CBO estimated for the House-passed version of the repeal bill, and could further complicate Senate Republicans' dash toward a vote by the end of this week.

The Senate bill would also cut the federal deficit by $321 billion over 10 years, driven by deep reductions to Medicaid and skimpier subsidies to help people buy insurance. Those savings exceed the $133 billion bar set by the House bill, meeting one of the requirements for Republicans to pass the Senate bill through an expedited process requiring just 51 votes. The Senate legislation scored by CBO includes a just-inserted "continuous coverage" provision mandating that people remain insured or risk being locked out of the market for at least six months.
