*Aqua Sciences History and Background*


Florida-based Aqua Sciences, Inc. was formed in 2004 to bring a product to
market that literally extracts vast amounts of safe drinking water from the
atmosphere and outputs potable drinking water. The Company has received
extensive media coverage, including recognition by The Wall Street Journal
and Time Magazine. The Wall Street Journal awarded Aqua Sciences the silver
medal in its Technology Innovation awards, and Aqua Sciences was recognized
as one of the year by Time Magazine. In each and every case, the unique
nature of Aqua Sciences patented technology was the prevailing justification
for these awards.


This past January, Aqua Sciences played a life saving role at The University
Hospital in Port au Prince, Haiti, immediately following the Earthquake and
was featured on NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams (see 5 minute

For the past 5 years, Aqua Sciences has competed in – and won - several
Federal Government sponsored Requests for Proposals (RFP’s), including the
US Army and US Department of Homeland Security. In each and every case, it
was determined that the company’s Atmospheric Water Harvesting Units were
unique throughout the world – supported by 100+ patents in the field of
Liquid Desiccant technology.


The US Army has spent 5 years researching, testing and evaluating the Aqua
Sciences technology. The Army’s conclusion is that there is no other water
from air solution – anywhere – that operates like the Aqua Sciences Liquid
Desiccant System. It is for that reason that the Army has now sole sourced
its water from air business to Aqua Sciences after the competitive
procurement process determined that Aqua Sciences’ patented liquid desiccant
technology was “one of a kind”.


In 2006, Aqua Sciences once again competed in a competitive procurement with
FEMA’s Florida Office and similar to the Army process, this process also
verified that there is no other water from air system in the world that
operates like the Aqua Sciences Liquid Desiccant system. The Department of
Homeland Security has done a deep due diligence on Aqua Sciences and come to
the same conclusion of the other government agencies that have looked at the
solution – it is truly unique and as a result, has no true competition in
its space. Additionally, Craig Fugate, Current FEMA Administrator, has
voiced his support for the Aqua Sciences product and will help to approve
any funding reimbursement requests coming from States for the purchase of
Aqua Sciences machines.


During the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Hearing on Wednesday, May 19,
2010, Senator Kaufman (D-DE) asked very specific questions about access to
clean water in Haiti. Chris Mulligan, USAID Rebuilding Coordinator for
Haiti, stressed that the rebuild strategy will focus on decentralizing and
relocating population centers outside of Port au Prince. In other words,
spreading the Haitian population out to new areas and creating smaller
localized population centers. The Aqua Sciences “off the grid” solution is
the only immediate solution that can effectively and efficiently produce
water in places where there is no water infrastructure or dirty source of
water to be cleaned by Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Units.


Another central focus of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee is the
upcoming Hurricane Season and its potential for additional pain and
suffering on the Haitian people. The Aqua Sciences machine, that is
currently in Haiti, was built specifically as a preparedness and mitigation
device for Hurricane Season. The ability to have a mobile water generating
system that is not reliant on the grid or any source of ground water makes
the Aqua Sciences’ solution truly unique among all other potable water
devices used during Hurricane Season.


As is relates to Haiti, the company is obviously willing to compete in any
and all competitive solicitations, but we already know from the experiences
listed above with other government agencies, there is NO other solution that
competes with Aqua Sciences. Furthermore, we already know from Aqua
Sciences’ work at University Hospital in Port au Prince immediately
following the earthquake, that the need is still great for potable water and
we need to act now – as the Haitian Ambassador has requested with his April
16 letter to Secretary Clinton.


Finally, and what is most important, is that Aqua Sciences is not like every
other company trying to get their new technology into the rebuilding
blueprint. Aqua Sciences was on the ground, saving lives, and a well
documented success story DURING the immediate response and recovery efforts
in Haiti. From what we understand, the funding of additional Aqua Sciences
Water Harvesting Machines is not a new order, but rather an expansion of an
already successful and on-going project on the ground in Haiti – and is
being specifically requested by the Haitian Government through Ambassador
Joseph’s request letters.


People have died and are dying every day that passes and funding is delayed,
from a lack of clean drinking water. Aqua Sciences has ALREADY saved lives
in Haiti with its water generating system. It is not like a power generator,
a tarp, or other standard disaster devices – it is a unique solution to the
water crisis and as such should be reviewed by State/USAID as a valid,
effective sole source contract that can save lives and create employment
opportunities for the people of Haiti TODAY. The examples cited above
provide strong validation for sole source funding as requested by the
Haitian Ambassador on behalf of his citizens.
