President Trump's decision to withdraw from the Paris climate accord is a devastating mistake that will jeopardize everything from Americans' health and national security to our economy and, of course, our environment.

Climate change won't slow down simply because our country chooses to ignore its impact. The data is in, the scientific consensus is clear and the proof is right before our eyes every day - both in Delaware and across the country.

As Senate colleagues and I met with government, corporate and advocacy leaders, we hoped that the talks would produce a meaningful agreement. By walking away from this global agreement now, Trump is turning his back on our moral obligation to do all we can - and he's ceding our position as a global leader in this all-important fight.

It is on the rest of us to act.

To make sure our children have safe air to breathe and clean water to drink. To guarantee that Trump doesn't irrevocably damage our planet and harm future generations. Please, join me in this fight by adding your name and telling Trump and the GOP to act on climate change!

With Trump's announcement, we joined the ranks of Nicaragua and Syria as only the third country to not participate in the accord.

The United States is the second-biggest carbon polluter in the world. Climate change is not some far-off hypothetical. It is today's reality, and it's today that we must take action.
