Attached please find the weekly update I provide to the Biden Foundation ED
Louisa Terrell. Two issues I want to highlight for you. First, that we
trained 17 new professionals to serve as facilitators of the Stewards of
Children Training. In February we will train nearly 1000 professionals in
the program and we needed some committed experienced professionals able to
assist.

But the biggest news from the week is definitely our meeting with Special
Olympics. The meeting was extraordinary- the COS we met with said , "I
listen to what is happening in USA gymnastics, and think if this happens to
us, it could destroy everything in this organization.” Special Olympics is
the perfect program with the perfect group of children and adults that need
to be protected, and this is the perfect time. Please cross your collective
fingers, or as my Mom would say, pull out your best rosary beads, and pray
that we close this deal on a partnership. The number of children and
vulnerable young adults is staggering- 4,931,754- nearly 5 million
athletes; 1.15 million volunteers; 223 national and state program in 172
countries. The Beau Biden Foundation would immediately be the national
organization we all want this to be. Special Olympics is untainted by
scandal and this would be a truly remarkable partner to highlight the
Shield of Protection Initiative.

I also think it makes the conversation with Darkness to Light urgently
important. And a very compelling position more compelling.

Wow- what a week.

We trained 43 folks in Stewards of Children- including 37 police officers.
We held our first BBF led training for facilitators- we trained 18 new
facilitators including 6 police officers and 4 school counselors/family
crisis therapists. It was a grueling day for Claudine especially, and she
did a wonderful job.
We trained 183 children to be safe online and participated in the Read
aloud on bullying with the 87ers players and spoke to another 240 children
over 2 schools in the read aloud.

Most exciting meeting was the time we spent in Washington, DC on Thursday
meeting with Shawn Ferguson, Chief of Staff to Tim Shriver at Special
Olympics. The meeting went exceptionally well; we will return in the next
few weeks to meet with the CEO, Chief Legal Officer and Mr. Shriver. Both
Josh and I cannot imagine, based upon the reactions from both Mr. Ferguson
and the few minutes we met with the Chief Legal Officer, Angela Ciccolo,
that Special Olympics does not become a partner with the Beau Biden
Foundation. They have 4.9 million athletes, 1.15 million volunteers and are
active with 223 national and state partners, in 172 countries. Suffice it
say this partnership would be epic for BBF. Epic.

Good morning all!!

The Beau Biden Foundation night at the Delaware 87ers game was a wonderful
success. It was, for the first time this season a nearly sell out crowd of
2600. The VP and many members of the Biden family enjoyed a great night of
basketball; the VP did a wonderful presentation at half-time (special
permission from the NBA was required to allow this). We made nearly 60
child id kits at the 2 games this week where kits were made, including on
BBF night.

Our trainings for school children continue at a rapid pace- this week
Claudine trained 326 children in Grades 3-5 at 2 different schools.

We are very busty getting ready for the train the trainer in the Stewards
of Children course next week, at this point we have 15 people signed up to
be trained. We have been very impressed with the quality of folks we have
interviewed to become trainers for the BBF, I am sure this group will yield
several more volunteers like Dr. Diana Terrell, committed professionals
willing to devote their time to this important task.

We have finalized the trainings for the entire Wilmington police department
which will occur on campus here in April and May. We will train them in
Stewards of Children and in Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and
Neglect. Wilmington Police will give us another 350 people trained in
Stewards of Children, and no doubt a fair number of professionals wanting
to volunteer. As of this date we have commitments from 4 police agencies to
be fully trained.

We also had another school district commit to Stewards training this week-
Appoquinimick School District, which has 1350 employees. So, at this point
we have commitments to train nearly 4000 school personnel and 1000 law
enforcement this year.

On a joint Biden Foundation/BBF issue- community colleges- the President of
DTCC, Dr. Mark Brainard and I had a great conversation about his plans for
more widespread child protection training- we have trained about 80 people
at DTCC in the past year- but he agrees widespread training is necessary
and appropriate. Dr Brainard (who is a former student of mine!) asked for
BBF to train 15-20 of his folks to be trainers in Stewards of Children in
order to accelerate their training implementation plan.

Without being overly optimistic, I believe this may be the year we push
Delaware over the top; Delaware will be the first state in the nation that
has achieved tipping point of training 5% of the population in child abuse
prevention training. There will be a parade and a Sweeneys bakery cake if
we do that!

Our Shield of Protection Initiative is moving along; we have another school
we start today- which I mentioned earlier, brings us into Pennsylvania. The
importance of Shield of Protection was demonstrated in horrific detail this
week with the sentencing of child predator Larry Nassar. We believe that it
is likely that the Shield of Protection will be the primary program that
will allow BBF to become a national organization.

We had our first 2018 Board meeting yesterday, which was well attended and
enthusiastic about BBF growth.

Good Morning!
On Monday I met with Colonial School District and they have agreed to have
the District fully trained in Stewards of Children. The District will train
about 1200 teachers, Para professionals and other staff.
Monday evening we attended the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce Annual
dinner honoring VP and Dr. Biden with the Josiah Marvel cup. We had the
opportunity to meet with many business leaders in Delaware, and BBF was the
recipient of nearly $35,000 in contributions. A great way to start the
week.
On Weds BBF co hosted with the US Attorneys office a conference on human
trafficking and I spoke to 300 attendees on the link between child sexual
abuse and human trafficking.
Josh was able to secure a school in Pensylvania for the Shield of
Protection Intitiative, our first outside Delaware!
Claudine trained at All Saints School this week, but weather forced the
cancellation of other trainings.

Good morning:


We have had 2 child identification events at the 87ers- one on 12/27/17 and
one on 1/3/18 and made nearly 75 child identification kits.


Claudine conducted internet safety training for 677 students at Georgetown
Middle School.


We had exciting news on the Stewards of Children implementation—we locked
down the Cape Henlopen School District—the largest school district in
Sussex County-- to train 1000 teachers, paraprofessionals and staff over a
2 day period on February 16th and March 9th. This month we will also train
all officers, staff and victim service specialists at both the Newark
Police Department and the Delaware River and Bay Police Departments.


Our revenue calculation from 2017 is complete- our grand total, barring any
very late mail (possible as the office was closed due to snow yesterday) is
$1,057,000.


For the new year, this week’s revenue is:
