Missy, hope you’re well! At our board meeting today, we discussed outreach to the US Olympic Committee to help them assess their child protection policies, procedures and programming. As you know, our Shield of Protection Initiative helps youth serving orgs asses these things and improve upon them. Since Coca-Cola is one of (if not the) longest continuous partner of the Olympics, we were wondering if you could help us figure out the right person to talk to about partnering with them to ensure, while they’re taking a hard look at their child protection policies, prevention is a focus. I’ve attached a one pager on the Shield of Protection Initiative for your reference. If you can find us a person to talk to, VBO, RHB and HOB said they’d be a part of the initial outreach (for which Patty and I are incredibly grateful). Clearly there are certain sports that have very few kids participating (can’t imagine there are many 12 year old curlers or bobsledders), but there are many that do, and I’m sure they run training camps for the sports where most of the athletes are over the age of 18. Looking at their senior staff, perhaps the best place to start would be the general counsel (Christopher McCleary) or the HR manager (Pam Sawyer). Patrick Sandusky runs the GR dept. so he may also be a good start. Happy to chat on the phone if you wish.
