Chinese medicine in MtP Meet Our New Acupuncturist! Please join us in welcoming our newest healer, Joshua Warren. Josh has recently relocated to DC from Asheville, NC, where he practiced acupuncture, developed an astrology system to align Chinese medicine to Western astrology, and spent much of his free time writing and hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Originally from Orange, MA, Josh draws on his fascination with sound and healing to cultivate a day-to-day relationship with resonance. "I employ the art and science of Chinese medicine to address acute and chronic health concerns, aiming to bring awareness and language to the process of one’s healing," says Josh. "For me, Chinese medicine is a tool through which the body, mind and spirit obtain an orientation, a vantage point that offers effective day-to-day vocabulary for wellbeing. My goal is to help my patients return to their wholeness, their innate capacity to fill what is empty, to empty what is full, and to harmonize not what is diseased, but rather what is inconsistent within the self." As a general practitioner, Joshua has treated over 400 patients constituting a broad spectrum of conditions and concerns. Joshua has special interest in treating digestive disorders, chronic and acute pain, mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, and other spectrum disorders, sleep and stress-related issues, gynecology and fertility issues, as well as facilitating pregnancy and post-partum care. At The Well, Josh provides a wide array of services in addition to acupuncture, including Chinese herbal medicine, moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, qigong and dao yin movement therapy. Prior to joining The Well, Joshua practiced acupuncture in North Carolina at the Haywood ministry off-site clinic providing no-cost community acupuncture to individuals experiencing homelessness, substance abuse, and mental illness. In addition, Joshua has had the honor to study Western Classical singing at the Aegean Center for the Fine Arts in Paros, Greece, joining an eclectic group of women from Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, Hungary, India, as well as Greece. Joshua also has a special interest in illustration and finds it extremely compatible with the focus and attention required in the art of needle insertion.
