It's touch-and-go as the people of Haiti are being hit by the full impact of Hurricane Matthew's 145 mph winds and torrential rain.

Our team in Haiti has been working around the clock during the last 72 hours to help evacuate the most vulnerable from areas at extreme risk of storm surges and landslides. We have deployed teams to remote areas that will be all but impossible to access after the storm's landfall. And in these hard-to-reach areas, we have pre-positioned vital supplies, such as clean drinking water, hygiene kits, tarps and blankets, to help communities weather the storm.

But that's not going to be enough. A storm like Matthew can have devastating impacts on a country like Haiti, which has not experienced a storm of this magnitude since 1954.

The people of Haiti were already suffering from a drought as a result of El Niño, and now they will likely endure the shock of torrential flooding as a result of this storm.

The biggest needs following the storm will be clean drinking water, as the anticipated flooding will contaminate the water supply. We need your help in order to rush additional safe drinking water, hygiene kits, temporary shelter and other vital supplies to our emergency response team as soon as possible in order to protect communities in Haiti from the devastating aftermath of the hurricane.
