Come, Holy Spirit! - 314 - At the Foot of the Manger I can't remember where I learned this from but for as long as I can remember it was said to me and I said it to others as well, "I will meet you at the foot of the manger at Christmas." And I always imagined meeting up with those I loved that special night and all the following nights of the season, kneeling together at the foot of the Manger, loving and worshiping our Baby God, close enough to be touched by His mother and feeling Joseph's protection. It was a time of feeling especially close to those dear to me. At that time, we are not separated by time nor place nor death. We are there side by side - at the Foot of the Manger, being blessed by the newly born Jesus. I am telling you this so that we can meet up tomorrow night at the foot of the Manger when He arrives. There we can truly experience His love for us, our love for Him and our love for each other. (Not my words - but our family’s creed.) avbo
