NEW TODAY-RGA GOES ON AIR IN NEW MEXICO, HITS KING: New Mexico Democratic attorney general Gary King, GOP Gov. Susana Martinez's newly-minted general-election opponent, is getting the Republican Governors Association treatment today as the committee goes on the air attacking his record in the state. "Gary King was a terrible attorney general. He'd be a worse governor," the ad says. "King was soft on corruption, and had one of the worst records in the country at stopping Medicaid fraud. The Albuquerque Journal said Gary King's record should make taxpayers sick. The chairman of his own party called King the worst attorney general New Mexico's ever had. And the Santa Fe New Mexican said Gary
King should consider resigning from office." Martinez is popular and is heavily favored to win reelection, but the RGA has been working to shore up its incumbents in recent weeks: the group also went on air for Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad this week, another GOP governor favored to win another term (though the polls are closer in Iowa than they are in New Mexico). Watch:

MISSISSIPPI RUNOFF-DEMS GEAR UP FOR POSSIBLE GENERAL-ELECTION BATTLE: POLITICO's Alex Burns and Burgess Everett look at how national Democrats are gearing up for a potential general-election battle in Mississippi, should state Sen. Chris McDaniel win the runoff: "Party strategists have long watched the GOP campaign between McDaniel, an activist state legislator, and six-term incumbent Thad Cochran for signs of a general election opening. ... Democrats say they have no intention of meddling in the second round Republican primary on June 24, in which McDaniel is believed to have an advantage. But they intend to be prepared if Cochran falls: The Democratic research group American Bridge is
well into the process of scrutinizing McDaniel's record as a politician and commentator and has put out a job posting for a tracker position in Mississippi. Democratic groups have polled the race multiple times, though not since the primary this week in which McDaniel and Cochran deadlocked at 49 percent. More than a half-dozen sitting senators, including Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid and Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chairman Michael Bennet, have already channeled donations to Democratic nominee Travis Childers from their political action committees."

MORE FROM TUESDAY NIGHT-DEMS DECLARE CA-31 VICTORY: The only major June 3 race still undecided as of Thursday was California's 31st District, where national Democrats were hoping that Redlands Mayor Pete Aguilar would snag the no. 2 spot and take on Republican Paul Chabot in the general election. It looks like they got their wish Thursday night, when Aguilar led Republican Lesli Gooch narrowly after all additional ballots were counted. DCCC Chairman Steve Israel issued a statement congratulating Aguilar, and fellow Democratic candidate Eloise Gomez Reyes announced her "full support" for his candidacy. Had Aguilar lost the no. 2 spot to Gooch, it would have been the second time in as many
election cycles that Democrats fumbled the ball in this Democratic-leaning district; in 2012, two Republicans advanced to the general election, which is how current GOP Rep. Gary Miller won the seat. The Los Angeles Times has more:

As for California's 15th district, there's still been no call for second place to face off against Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell: Republican Hugh Bussell still led Democrat Ellen Corbett by 610 votes in the most recent count.

As Steve Daines takes a large lead in a new poll, Mead Treadwell talks about the Bergdahl prisoner swap, and Lindsey Graham releases his final ads before Tuesday's primary, here's POLITICO's Morning Score: your daily guide to the 2014 midterms.

FRIDAY STANDINGS-Here's Morning Score's take on how some of the most important candidates, campaigns and political players should answer the question: Are you better off now than you were a week ago?

YES: (1) Iowa state Sen. Joni Ernst, who avoided her Senate primary going to a convention and outperformed most polling by 30 percent in Tuesday's primary; (2) Former Mississippi Rep. Travis Childers, whose chances of a competitive general election in Mississippi's Senate race grew with the GOP runoff and Chris McDaniel's narrow lead; and (3) Former Michigan Rep. Mark Schauer, who got welcome news when the DGA bought $6 million of fall air time hitting GOP Gov. Rick Snyder-a sign it sees the race as competitive going forward.

NO: (1) Former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, a driving force behind Thad Cochran's campaign which couldn't get over the hump; (2) Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett, who starts the general election down at least 20 points against Democrat Tom Wolf, according to two polls this week; and (3) Former Los Angeles City Controller Wendy Greuel: A year after losing the race for L.A. mayor, she fell short in her bid for Henry Waxman's House seat.

TODAY ON POLITICO-ELDRIDGE SLAMS FIRMS HUSBAND INVESTS IN, via POLITICO's Alex Isenstadt: "As a congressional candidate, New York Democrat Sean Eldridge has cast himself as a reform-minded opponent of big oil, big banks, and big health care. Yet, according to a newly released personal financial disclosure report, Eldridge and his husband, Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes, have invested millions of dollars in the industries he's singled out for criticism. The 23-page financial disclosure report, which covers the Jan. 1. 2013 to April 30, 2014 period, provides the clearest picture yet of Eldridge and Hughes' fortune, portraying a couple with a diverse array of assets. The vast majority of the
investments listed in the report are under the name of Hughes, whose net worth has been said to be as high as $700 million."

House Majority PAC served up a double whopper in California's 7th Congressional District. In a TV ad it calls "Dishonor," the Democratic super PAC says former Republican Rep. Doug Ose voted in 2003 "to slash veterans' benefits by $15 billion" and "to increase his own pay." He did neither. In fact, he voted to increase veterans benefits by more than the rate of inflation - but not as much as President Bush requested or the Democrats wanted. As for congressional pay, Ose introduced a bill in 2003 to repeal the automatic annual cost-of-living increases for members of Congress. The full story: "
