Dates to Remember - Parents of Eighth Graders

Tuesday, February 5 8th grade Parent Curriculum Night. This important meeting will give parents information about the curriculum of Upper School and class placement.
Friday, March 15 Daytime meeting for 8th graders to hear about the US curricula from the US Department Heads.
Friday, April 19 Daytime meeting for 8th graders to hear about Arts choices & instructions to select courses online.
April 19-May 3 Online selections for Arts classes (via the Student Portal) + Language and Math teachers will be discussing placement with their students; Students will fill out a Language choice sheet
Wednesday, April 3 Parent tours of Upper School
Meet Diana Lazarus, Ninth Grade Dean, outside the US office (south end of US, nearest the Arts Center) at 8:00 AM both days
Wednesday, April 10 Parent tours of Upper School
Friday, May 3 Last day for online selections of Arts classes & Language choice sheets are due. Final placements in Language and Math will be on the third trimester reports in June.
Thursday, May 16 Class of 2017 Upper School Welcome: 6:30 to 8:00pm, RLS Meeting Room & Dining Room. The evening will be an exciting one in that it will include not only the parents and students of our current 8th grade, but also our newly admitted families, and so it will be the first time that the entire class of 2017 and their parents will be together on campus.

Early in May Students will sign up for next year's sports online. Watch the Tuesday Letter for information.
Friday, May 31 8th grade Dinner 6:30 PM in Dining Room followed by regular dance (ends at 10pm)
Thursday, June 6 Middle School Closing Ceremony 7:00 - 8:15pm Arts Center Theater
Reception follows in Dining Room for families and faculty
8th grade closing ceremony dress guidelines: (From the Parent/Student Handbook): "Eighth grade boys should wear dress shirts (any color) and ties, slacks (no jeans), street shoes (no sneakers) and no jackets. Eighth grade girls should wear simple dresses or dress slacks (any color). No strapless or halter tops are allowed. For this ceremony, all students are seated on the stage in front of the audience, so the choice of dress should be modest." 8th grade families will receive 4 tickets for the evening ceremony. A few additional tickets will be available, but the venue will not hold large parties of extended family for each student. More details will be coming in early May.
