WIDDER, THOMPSON HANG SHINGLE WITH NEW SCIENCE LOBBYING FIRM: Two veterans of the government appropriations process have launched the new firm Federal Science Partners. Joel Widder, a veteran of the National Science Foundation and the Senate Appropriations Committee, and Meg Thompson, who worked on both the House and Senate Appropriations committees, have teamed up as partners in the new effort. Both were most recently at the Oldaker Group. Widder tells PI that the new firm’s client roster is made up of higher-education institutions, research organizations and technology companies. The firm will focus on helping clients navigate all aspects of the government funding and research process — including appropriations and other research issues. The firm filed a handful of registrations last week including: the National Association of Marine Laboratories, Quantum Spatial, Sea Grant Association, The Trustees of Columbia University, University Corporation for Atmospheric Research and Vaisala.
