After Father John blessed the food, live music, laughter and Thanksgiving smells filled the gallery. The food was catered by our very own Catholic Charities Enterprises, with beautiful tablesettings and decorations given by Ridgewells. Pepco opened the beautiful space to us and plenty of Pepco employees and their families volunteered. VIDEO: Father John talks about why the evening is so special to him. <https://www.catholiccharitiesdc.org/page.redir?target=http%3a%2f%2fhttps%3a%2f%2fwww.youtube.com%2fwatch%3fv%3dKWyNXfwYvZ0%26feature%3dyoutu.be&srcid=15849&srctid=1&erid=783861&trid=3d0ba9a8-49b7-4873-bc1d-37ae71635b33> After dinner, one man had the opportunity to jam with the musicans. Being homeless for 30 years, he hadn't played a guitar in the same amount time. On Tuesday night, however, he picked up right where he left off. [image: Dental Clinic - Sept Newsletter] SHARE sends more than 10,000 Thanksgiving family meals into the community The annual November distribution at the SHARE Food Network warehouse is organized chaos. Folks push huge carts loaded with frozen turkeys, boxes of stuffing (yum!), fresh veggies and of course, pumpkin pie. Always the busies month of the year, SHARE staff and hundreds of volunteers make it possible to assemble and move more than 10,000 meals for a family from truck to table at a price very affordable to low-income families. One gentleman picked up more than two dozen Thanksgiving meals on a long lunch break from work for his church to give out in the week leading up to Thanksgiving. A huge thanks to all of our volunteers and a congratulations to the staff on another big Thanksgiving made possible! The evening, themed "Widening the Circle," was a celebration of Rev. Mario E. Dorsonville, Vice President for Mission and Immigrant Outreach, and his commitment to the Spanish Catholic Center over the past decade, as well as a chance to raise more funds to support over 22,000 immigrants served by Catholic Charities and the Center. In all, the Gala raised $ 820,000. The three-man band, Manolito - the Gypsy, with their Latin beats and Flamenco flair, had the gala-goers on the dance floor in no time. Our CHAMPS team, which provides free emergency help for youth in a mental health crisis, recently supported a 13-year-old youth with audio hallucinations. The team stablized him, linked him to Community Connections, and provided food and shelter resources to his mother, who is homeless. The McCarrick Family Center was short on donations to serve 200 households for Thanksgiving. However, a generous supporter and volunteer donated a $ 2,000 to purchase turkeys, which provided 200 meals individuals and families! Students are our Kennedy School recently attended a Washington Symphony Orchestra performance at the Kennedy Center (no relation) and also visited Ford's Theatre on a recent school field trip.
