Autos, Alphas, and Aussies

Greetings to colleagues, friends and family:

I hope you are well and having a great fall. At this stage in my life I am having fun staying in touch with all the many wonderful people I have met. Some of you I've known my whole life and others are new, but all are treasured more than gold. Please let me know how you are doing.

** Forty Year Anniversary
------------------------------------------------------------
In the 1974 mid-term election, I was a 30-year old political novice who was carried into Congress on the huge anti-Watergate wave against the Republicans. Check out this photo gallery from my first campaign which includes many of the wonderful campaign workers and volunteers who made it all possible. One of my favorites is the infamous RussoMobile, but there are also news clips and campaign photos here>> (http://russocapitolstrategies.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=6ad1f962cb43a678bd1f5b6a7&id=8ca4ed412a&e=ee2137e53f)

Isn't it ironic that 40 years later we have a (so-called) wave election against the Democrats for the mid-terms. I'm sure there are some lucky underdog freshman Republicans out there who benefited like I did. Out in Los Angeles, I joined a TV show panel at Loyola Marymount University to give my two cents on the election.

** Original Alpha House Meets Hollywood Alpha House
------------------------------------------------------------
Those of you who know me well have heard stories from that decade in Congress when I lived in a house on Capitol Hill with my good friends George Miller, Chuck Schumer, and Leon Panetta. Powerful Ways & Means Chairman Dan Rostenkowski called us "my four horsemen" and we felt that for young guys, we were pretty influential.

So when thirty years later I was asked to do a cameo appearance on the amazon.com original series "Alpha House" which is very (very) loosely based on our living arrangements, of course I said yes. It was an eye opener to spend a day of filming at a Long Island estate with former Congressman Sam Gejdenson (who joined the house after I left) and media luminaries Norm Ornstein and Alex Witt. Here's some further thoughts on that experience>> (http://russocapitolstrategies.us3.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=6ad1f962cb43a678bd1f5b6a7&id=f019cbcb10&e=ee2137e53f)

** Australian Extravaganzas and Alohas
------------------------------------------------------------
Recently, we had two wonderful events for the American-Australian Leadership Dialogue. It was an honor to serve as Master of Ceremonies at the huge July Gala held in the Milestones of Flight Gallery at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. More on the gala dinner here>> (http://russocapitolstrategies.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=6ad1f962cb43a678bd1f5b6a7&id=d1348b3732&e=ee2137e53f)

We also had a very productive defense oriented session in Hawaii which included a day long insider tour at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Field. More on Honolulu here>> (http://russocapitolstrategies.us3.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=6ad1f962cb43a678bd1f5b6a7&id=8986d2049b&e=ee2137e53f)

** Final Thoughts
------------------------------------------------------------

Have you played this magnificent golf course?

The last mystery hole was at Kierland Golf Club in Scottsdale AZ (below). Tony Russo was first to call with a correct answer.

Why are these two guys gloating?

Hot malasadas are best when eaten in auto-mode

Venice is wonderful (except for the prawns)
