The Importance of an Extended Day

At Baltimore Collegiate, we will ensure that students have a full day of academic
instruction with added time for the arts and athletics.

Many schools in Baltimore have cut the arts and athletics for their students.

Extended learning time is nothing new in education. Yet, we know that too many schools
have cut corners.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A few facts:

Ordinary school day: 8:00am - 2:30pm

Daily instructional time: 5.5 hours

Total yearly hours of instruction: 990 hours

The Collegiate Approach: Longer School Day

Collegiate school day: 8:30am - 5:30pm

Daily instructional time: 8 hours

Total yearly hours of instruction: 1,576 hours*

Every year, a Collegiate student will get the benefit of an *additional 17 days
of instruction. These hours matter, as we build our young men into strong scholars
through our mastery-based curriculum taught by the best teachers we can find.

But with every innovation comes the need for necessary investment. We are raising
funds to pay for our teachers who will, under our model, work 20% more than the
ordinary teacher. High expectations will form the foundation for extraordinary results.
