My speech, "A Governor's Perspective on Health Reform [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?llr=sgf4tneab&et=1104469362121&s=9822&e=001ykp-cT3rDSlD53lgMayNgrZAor2AMEtMCapBHp-IEj5PVwpDN7YLl7uM1HRJ4sLIGY2RKRoVqRXCZeIlWc_wj4I4_5n_e4YFCkT0LTgnh_mgap56XDk-9p_aLCnAbVg72VSrGGtqCoiqN4DxyJqpUpF5biozhgI2pUUebVbuPbM=]," touched on the unique challenges and incredible opportunities presented to states by the Affordable Care Act and showcased the nation-leading initiatives, reforms and implementation models we've enacted in Maryland. Because of our commitment to improving the quality of care, lowering costs for all Marylanders and expanding access to coverage and the reforms already in place in Maryland, federal health reform will save our state $850 million and cut the number of uninsured Marylanders in half by 2020. Health care reform is not about reform, which has been going on for many years. It's about health. And while other states have chosen to sit idly by, I'm proud that through the work of the Health Care Reform Coordinating Council - which I co-chair - we are moving forward and putting the pieces in place that will ensure that health reform is successful. I know there is a lot of work left to do and would love to hear your thoughts on my speech and how we can make Maryland a healthier state. Sincerely, Anthony G. Brown Lt.
