Dear Sidwell Rowing Parents, There are a few important dates coming up and we want to ensure that you have this information and as much of the details as we know at this time. *Mid-Atlantic Erg Sprints -- this Saturday, Jan. 29th, @ TC Williams High School, Alexandria, VA* * * All girls are encouraged to sign up for the erg sprints in their age and weight category. We currently have 11 rowers registered - Cecelia Laguarda, Jessie Springer, Lexi Rosenfeld, Caroline Fong, Bridget Feldman, Izzy Dorval, Rachel Gray, Ali Boocheever, Mary Wills, Naomi Biden, Angela Sako -- and our very own Ted Bristol will be kicking off the morning in the men's 2000 meters. * It's not too late for others to register!* Because the girls are rowing in different categories, the erging will take place between 10 am and 2:30 pm. Rowers do NOT need to stay for the entire time, but they do need to be there early enough before their scheduled session. Please check the Mid-Atlantic Erg Sprints website to determine your daughter's session time. If your daughter needs a ride, please let us know and we will arrange a carpool. If you would like to volunteer to drive, please let me know as soon as possible. And, if you have a station wagon, SUV, or mini-van, at the end of the erg sprints we need your assistance to transport 2 ergs back to Sidwell (yes, we are purchasing 2 brand new, state-of-the-art ergs/computers!). *Rowing in a 'Tank' @ Washington College, Chestertown, MD -- Saturday, February 26* * * Back by popular demand! After last year's successful and fun day on the Eastern Shore, the team will once again be heading out to Washington College to row in their 'tanks.' *Details are still to follow*, but we generally leave early in the morning in order to arrive by mid-morning. The girls row on ergs and take turns in the 'tank,' we have lunch at the college dining hall, and then we return in the afternoon. We will need drivers so please let me know if you can drive and, if so, how many rowers you can accommodate in your car. This is a fun way to get to know a few other parents. Last year, we enjoyed each other's company at a coffee house near the school boat house. *Mandatory All Rowers and Parents Meeting* * * We are currently scheduled to meet on Wednesday, Feb. 16. However, since we may not know the make-up of the team by mid-February, we are currently looking into rescheduling this mandatory meeting for *Wednesday, March 2, or Wednesday, March 9 as the alternative date. We will meet at 7 pm (please be prompt* as we want to end as early as possible so that the coaches and rowers can get home to bed since they will be having early morning practice the next morning). Please pencil these dates into your calendars and we will be back in touch with you as soon as a room has been reserved. Please bring your checkbooks and calendars with you. For the Sidwell Rowing Board, please note that we will have our Board meeting on Feb. 16th, instead of our regularly-scheduled March meeting. *Action items:* 1. Is your daughter registered for the erg sprints this Saturday? Not too late! 2. Can you drive this Saturday for the Mid-Atlantic Erg Sprints? 3. Can you drive an erg (or 2) back to Sidwell after the erg sprints this Saturday? 4. Can you drive on Saturday, Feb. 26th, to Chestertown, MD? 5. Save March 2 (maybe March 9), 7 pm, for the mandatory all rowers and parents meeting, and don't forget your checkbook and calendar!
