I have been thinking about the economic and financial issues facing Japan for some time. Last July Assistant Secretary of State for Asia Kurt Campbell told a small group of friends that Japan had become the US most serious national security concern in Asia. It made sense but as I thought about it -it was not such a surprise since if Japan continued to decline and it has and if it cannot arrest its decline then it changes everything for the US and our policy. Japan is crucial in the funding of many soft power projects and as an economic counterweight to China. I am now very concerned about Japan and Neil you may be correct.
