Dear 4X Parents, We hope you are staying warm this weekend. This weeks announcements: TUESDAY MEETING FOR WORSHIP You are welcome to join your child at Meeting for Worship on Tuesdays at 1:30 PM in the classrooms. Please arrive a few minutes early to walk with your child if the class is hosted by another. On January 25 the following classes will be in the Meeting House: 3, PK, 3Y. FRIENDS IN DEED: STORIES OF THE QUAKER QUEST FOR TRUTH, JUSTICE, AND EQUALITY The All School Parents Association and Quaker Life Committees invite all parents to an evening with Susan Sachs Goldman on January 24, 7-9 PM in the Middle School Drama Room. Susan has a longstanding interest in Friends’ history, beginning in graduate school and continuing through the education of her three children, all lifers at Sidwell Friends. She served on the Board of Trustees for 11 years, serving as Clerk for three. Susan believes that the history of Quaker social action is an inspiring story that is largely unappreciated – and one that should be shared. She is completing a book on this subject to be published later this spring. ARTRAGEOUS NEEDS VOLUNTEERS! Friends, parents, patrons, lend us your love of all things art! ArtRageous (Sunday, January 30 from 1-4 PM) promises to bring out the artist or art lover in you if you’ll help us bring out the rage in art! We are excited by a new venue this year – the beautiful Middle School – BUT WE NEED YOU. Set up (morning), clean up (4-5:30), assisting art stops and other events (1-4) – we’ve got a place for you. Please contact Sarah Blake at sblakie@aol.com. 2011 BLACK HISTORY MONTH SHOW PRESENTED BY THE BLACK STUDENT UNION We would like to invite any interested LS and MS students to participate in this year’s Black Student Union show! No previous performance experience is necessary. Participation is open to all interested and available students. However, students with special skills, such as playing an instrument or dance, are welcome to submit ideas to the director. This year’s show is titled, “Scratching the Surface: What’s Underneath?” and will be directed by Holly Bass, who directed last year’s show. If you are interested or have questions, please let Karen O’Neill at oneillk@sidwell.edu (LS fourth grade teacher), and your child’s classroom teacher.
