A Quick Look at Bloomberg News's Opinion Section for April 3, 2012

"This time is different." No, unfortunately, I'm not describing my NCAA
Final Four bracket, which as usual became irrelevant long before last
night's championship. Rather, it's Carmen M. Reinhart and Kenneth S.
Rogoff's famous statement on how the current financial crisis and recovery
stand out from previous economic setbacks. Lately, a bevy of fellow
economists has questioned the premise, but Reinhart and Rogoff stand their
ground. "Looking ahead, does history suggest that the current U.S. recovery
will be strong and robust, even if it has been so long coming?" they ask in
an op-ed article. "We hope this will be the case, but the jury is out.
Precisely because there is often no bright line that marks a 'recovery'
stage after a deep financial crisis -- the kind of halting uneven recovery
the U.S. has experienced is the norm -- considerable judgment is required in
choosing turning-point dates." ([2]Link.)
