CASH DASH - "Trump getting crushed by Clinton money machine," by POLITICO's Isaac Arnsdorf and Kenneth P. Vogel: Donald Trump's campaign started the month with a paltry $1.3 million in cash - a mere fraction of Hillary Clinton's $42.5 million war chest - putting the GOP frontrunner at a sharp disadvantage heading into the general election against Clinton's money machine. ... And it's not just money - the filings revealed a campaign staff of less than 70, a number was dwarfed by Clinton's nearly 700 paid employees, and few of the campaign's expenses suggested work had begun to build out a more robust operation. All together, it's the most lopsided fundraising start to a presidential election
in the modern campaign finance era." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=8b5c45a2c1fb36aea7fea1b898259f7ad573c40f46eacd489fa95acc6c699891

- The Republican National Committee outraised the Democratic National Committee, $13 million to $12.3 million, in May and continues to hold a cash on hand advantage, $19.9 million to $9 million. But there are also troubling financial signs for the Republican Party: Trump's joint fundraising committee, Trump Victory, sent nearly $3.1 million to the RNC in May, soon after it launched. But Romney Victory raised about $25.9 million for the RNC in May 2012. Romney's JFC followed that up with about $27 million to the RNC in June 2012 and $25 million in July 2012; keep that benchmark in mind as more reports of Trump's fundraising come in.

- "Trump super PAC lagged in May fundraising," by POLITICO's Isaac Arnsdorf: "One of the super PACs vying to be Donald Trump's preferred vehicle for unlimited donations raised a paltry $1.4 million in May, a sign that the group struggled to make inroads with either big or small donors. ... The PAC had about half a million dollars left at the start of June. By contrast, the main super PAC supporting Hillary Clinton, Priorities USA Action, raised $12 million in May and ended the month with almost $52 million on hand." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=8b5c45a2c1fb36ae4b28571431ec6d538fb6e9fbba54f7dda4bd09b38c0b1136

- Democratic super PACs get $7 million from Eychaner in May: A single Democratic megadonor poured $7 million into super PACs backing Hillary Clinton and Democratic congressional candidates in May. Fred Eychaner, a Chicago media tycoon who's one of the biggest Democratic donors in the country, wrote a $3 million check to the pro-Hillary Clinton Priorities USA Action on May 26. He gave $2 million each to Senate Majority PAC and House Majority PAC, Democrats' flagship congressional super PACs, on the same day, according to FEC filings. House Majority PAC raised a total of nearly $3 million in May, giving it $11.9 million in cash on hand. Senate Majority PAC raised a total of $3.7 million in
the month, giving it $11.4 million in cash on hand.

- Senate Leadership Fund brings in $2 million: Republicans' Senate Leadership Fund raised $2 million in May and had $18 million on hand, according to its FEC report. Houston Texans owner Robert McNair was the month's biggest donor, cutting the group his second $1 million check of the cycle. The super PAC's biggest expense from the month Donald Trump captured the nomination: polling. SLF spent more than $142,000 on polls in May.

CARE WAR - "In fight of his political life, McCain hammers Obamacare," by POLITICO's Jennifer Haberkorn and Theodoric Meyer: "John McCain is running for reelection like it's 2010. ... The issue helps him run to the right of his GOP primary opponent, while also taking a direct shot at his Democratic opponent, Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, who called her 2010 vote for the law the one she's 'most proud about.'" http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=8b5c45a2c1fb36ae90e6f1770bbb2a5d1e2b3a7f56e00859a9000816863d95c9

FLORIDA WATCH - Rubio federal account had $24,000 on hand at end of May: Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who is considering running for reelection, had just under $1.9 million in debt and only $24,000 on hand at the end of May, according to his latest FEC filing. http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=8b5c45a2c1fb36ae99199064bae065640bd5356a47317169c3459b9c33bbb2b9

AIR SUPPORT - FIRST IN SCORE - One Nation backs Blunt on military families again: The Republican nonprofit is using the second half of a $1.5 million buy to air a new ad on the familiar theme of Blunt working to aid military families. "Tell Senator Blunt to keep up the fight for our military and their families, who selflessly serve our country," a female narrator concludes in the ad. The ad will begin running today on Kansas City and St. Louis broadcast and cable and wrap up June 30. http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=8b5c45a2c1fb36ae5bdc9048a3fc3a7b6dad857c1b350978a30b4b7032c6bd4d

- NEW (AND OLD) THIS A.M. - Recycling in Pennsylvania: How well do Democratic outside groups coordinate their messages? Well enough to run the same ad under two different banners. Majority Forward, a nonprofit affiliated with Senate Majority PAC, is spending $300,000 to run an ad in Pennsylvania attacking GOP Sen. Pat Toomey for Wall Street ties. The same ad ran in April, but was paid for by AFSCME. Watch the ad: http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=1de3f7cfa365feb87af7d8aeac88ffa2a0ce43f35b377a7badc943d8839a7bbc EMILY's List, meanwhile, will start a $1 million ad buy in Pennsylvania this week.

DIGITAL OFFENSIVE - End Citizens United targets 10 House Republicans over IRS votes: End Citizens United PAC, which backs Democrats who support campaign finance reform, is targeting 10 House Republicans in a new digital ad campaign. The ads feature less-than-flattering photos of Charles and David Koch along with the words, in the case of Rep. Bob Dold (R-Ill.), "Your representative Bob Dold voted for a bill that ends donor disclosure for nonprofits. Tell him you're disappointed." In addition to Dold, the PAC is targeting GOP Reps. Steve Knight of California, Ryan Zinke of Montana, Cresent Hardy of Nevada, Will Hurd of Texas, Bruce Poliquin of Maine, Barbara Comstock of Virginia and Rod Blum
and David Young of Iowa, as well as Rep. Joe Heck, who's running for Senate in Nevada. The PAC is also running ads thanking seven Democrats who voted against the measure.

CHAMBER OF SECRETS - U.S. Chamber of Commerce endorses endangered Democrat Rep. Brad Ashford, a rare accomplishment for a Democrat that could foreshadow general election spending in a key GOP target district. Ashford was a rare bright spot for Democrats in 2014 when he won his Nebraska seat. But he's likely to face a tough reelection fight in the conservative-leaning district this fall, when he's set to face retired Air Force general Don Bacon. Ashford compiled a 90 percent voting record with the Chamber in 2015, his first year in Congress, according to its most recent congressional scorecard - the highest rating of any Democrat. http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=1de3f7cfa365feb81561f8b8b8629f02aed346d88cf49350371017c3d8ec830a

BATTLEGROUND POLL - Tenney leads rivals in Citizens United poll of NY-22: GOP state Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney is leading her two primary rivals in the race for retiring GOP Rep. Richard Hanna's seat in upstate New York, according to a new poll from Citizens United Political Victory Fund, which is backing Tenney. Thirty-eight percent of likely primary voters support Tenney, while 26 percent back Steve Wells and 11 percent back George Phillips. The poll, conducted by the Polling Company, surveyed 400 likely voters and had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percentage points. ADS IN AUTUMN - House Majority PAC adds to fall TV reservations: House Majority PAC, Democrats' flagship House super PAC, is adding to its slate of fall TV reservations with new buys in Michigan's open, GOP-held 1st District and Iowa's GOP-held 3rd District. http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=1de3f7cfa365feb8de5628ee8020658adf9d180eed1881e655db195808550ef3

PRESIDENTIAL SPEED READ - "How Lewandowski finally ran out of lifelines," by POLITICO's Kenneth P. Vogel and Ben Schreckinger: "Corey Lewandowski had fought his way back from the brink of termination at least twice over the last few months, utilizing a no-holds-barred style of in-fighting seldom seen in presidential politics, while relying on the loyalty of a small group of allies and an unusually close relationship with his boss. But Lewandowski's survival strategy began to backfire this month. And by the time he was called into one of the executive offices at Donald Trump's campaign headquarters in Manhattan's Trump Tower on Monday morning for the final time as campaign manager, the
once-obscure GOP operative had run out of lifelines." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=1de3f7cfa365feb8177811fb6eaadf211f8523610403203b6e6436a33b353790

- "Sanders' anti-superdelegate push gains steam in Senate," by POLITICO's Seung Min Kim and Burgess Everett: "A growing number of Democratic senators support reforming the party's superdelegate system - a move that would dilute their own power in the presidential nominating process but satisfy Bernie Sanders and his millions of supporters as Democrats move to unify for the general election. Politico interviewed nearly 20 of Sanders' colleagues over the past week and found a surprisingly strong appetite for change, including among influential members of the party establishment such as Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), a top prospect for vice president. More than half the senators surveyed support at
least lowering the number of superdelegates, and all but two said the party should take up the matter at next month's convention in Philadelphia, despite the potential for a high-profile intraparty feud at a critical moment in the campaign." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=1de3f7cfa365feb81aa2ea42c4ec91a8f64c04a05656a1e672522cf030f08cfb

CODA - QUOTE OF THE DAY: "I'm not going to announce on the escalator." - Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who's still deciding whether to run for reelection but told Fox News' Chad Pergram while on an escalator that he had ruled out announcing while on the conveyance. http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=1de3f7cfa365feb8a0ad7b457c37d382f14f84862f761c028dd0fea83efd6109
