I spoke with Patty at length about this. The ICAC team Beau had in DE did a lot of really great work. I don't have the statistics broken out by unit, but Beau's Child Predator Task Force (of which his ICAC team was a big part) investigated hundreds of predators, convicted 214 of them and took 129 kids out of unsafe situations (stats as of 12/31/14). That's in a state of about 900,000 people. Imagine scaling that up to a state with 4.8m people. Beau's numbers would be a heck of a lot less without the ICAC team (which we'll see for sure this year, as Denn has cut the ICAC team by 2/3. Abby Layton just left the unit because she didn't want to be it's head as it crashed and burned). As for how to handle? I think you could call Malloy and just say, look, the ICAC unit Beau had in DE did really incredible work. It would have done even more if every state AG had bought in to the federal program. It really works, and creating one without funding it is a waste of time (as we're seeing in DE now that Matt has taken 2/3 of the staff and reassigned them). It's osmething that was important to Beau and is important to the Foundation and to you. That's my suggestion. If you don't feel comfortable with it, perhaps just respond to Camille and say, we're dealing with a similar issue in DE now and are focused on our state before we get involved elsewhere. Happy to talk more if you wish. On Thu, Jun 2, 2016 at 5:24 AM, Joshua Alcorn <joshalcorn@gmail.com> wrote: > Fees on felons!
