ORLANDO AFTERMATH - L.A. Times 1-col. lead, "Killer sought news of his attack: During a pause in the massacre, the Orlando gunman searched social media and posted on Facebook," by Brian Bennett and Del Quentin Wilber: "Mateen searched on Facebook for 'Pulse Orlando' and 'shooting' during his three hour early morning attack on patrons inside the Pulse nightclub. ... -- "Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch will do all five Sunday Shows this weekend to discuss the terrorist attack in Orlando, the Justice Department's efforts in the investigation, and its unwavering support of the victims, their families, and the LGBT community. These interviews come on the heels of President Obama's visit to Orlando on Friday to meet with the families of victims of the horrific terrorist attack."

- "A Life of Violent Threats Paved Way for Orlando Attack," by WSJ's Damian Paletta, Alexandra Berzon and John R. Emshwiller: "Again and again for much of his life, Omar Mateen let people know he was a violent, dangerous person capable of murder. Repeatedly, he wiggled out of trouble, distracting officials with a beguiling charm, a feigned stupidity or some other tactic. ... [O]n at least a dozen occasions, beginning when he was in grade school, he gave clues in a public setting that he was capable of mayhem. ... He cheered the 9/11 attacks on the day they happened and once threatened to shoot partygoers at a barbecue when pork ... touched his hamburger. ... Robert Zirkle, who knew him
through school in 2001, said: 'We joked that he'd become a terrorist. And then he did.'" http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=fad23b7916ed898e6f33a49abce10307eb6e50f6cfb538329a9402598edb17e2

--MICHAEL HIRSH, Politico Magazine's Friday cover, "How the Terrorists Are Evolving Faster than the FBI Can Keep Up: After Orlando, critics say, the U.S. law enforcement should just toss out its old radicalization playbook": "[T]he FBI has been slow to catch on to the changing nature of terrorism-and to counter Islamic State's skill at recruiting or exploiting vulnerable individuals. These critics say the tally of missed clues from Boston to Orlando is evidence that to a disturbing extent the FBI and intelligence community are still fighting the last war, one in which 'radicalization' follows a predictable path (e.g., growing a beard, praying more frequently) and the tell-tale signs of a
terrorist in the making are organized links to terrorist groups and plans to travel abroad." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=fad23b7916ed898ed71a91fdd09986ebb5e49675bb8609c78cece418a144a38e

At one point last year ... the Bureau was watching 48 people intensely, a number that is towards the upper limit of the FBI's regular surveillance resources."
