Your gift last year helped provide critical support to two key areas: faculty professional development and student financial aid. With the collective impact of all gifts, the Annual Fund helps enhance the unique Friends learning environment.
Here are just a couple examples of what your loyal support helped make possible this School year:

* Fourth graders participated in a trip to Echo Hill Outdoor School<http://www.sidwell.edu/photos/index.aspx?ModuleID=692&LinkID=3597>, a program that helps students develop empathy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. After returning from Echo Hill, students spent time writing about and developing solutions that address current pollution and water use issues on the Lower School campus.

* Over the summer, six 6th grade teachers explored opportunities to develop interdisciplinary learning that resulted in the Green by Design Challenge<http://www.sidwell.edu/middle_school/grades-56/green-by-design/index.aspx>. Over the course of 6 weeks, students worked in small groups to research, design, develop, and build scale model sustainable green houses for a family.


* Upper School Math<http://www.sidwell.edu/photos/index.aspx?ModuleID=692&LinkID=3595> students used three-dimensional software and 3D printing to explore calculus techniques.
