Dear Hunter,

What a big year it has been for JVC in DC! The six young men and women in this year’s community started their adventure with a Washington Post reporter following them as they navigated those awkward, funny, sweaty first days of JVC where we look for the bank, figure out who drinks what kind of milk, and who will (or absolutely won’t) share a bedroom. Then Pope Francis came to town, and we had the great gift of reading John’s reflections on what it was like to hear him speak on the floor of Congress. More recently Senator Casey, an FJV, participated in a filibuster on the senate floor seeking a more just and peaceful world after a day of unimaginable violence in our country. Like so many of us, he continues to live the JVC mission.

While these events seem to make this year special, you know what I know-- that every year of JVC is special. This summer six new men and women will be headed to DC to join the JVC community. We know you will welcome them with open arms, with meals, with tours of the city, with invitations to community events, and with listening ears. Maybe you will be there to walk with them through the hot, hard first days in the city. For this and so much more we are grateful. During this transition season we ask for your prayers, encouragement, and for your financial support. Every dollar raised between now and June 30th will be matched by an anonymous donor, up to $250,000.
