Dear 12th Grade Parents,****

The Senior Celebration on June 2 will feature a 45-minute video, "Let Your
Life Speak: Twelve Words." The video will feature each member of the class
sharing 12 words (in honor of being the class of 2012) that they have
composed to express "This is Me on my Way" -- a haiku-like (even Twitter
inspired!) capturing of this time in their lives. The video/audio of the
students' speaking their words will be augmented by family-supplied photos.
Each student's sequence will be about 20 seconds (including their words and
photos). ****

Each student will be videoed saying their words. Coaching will be provided
for the camera shy! We are creating "mock-ups" that will soon be available
for parent and student viewing for inspiration.****

Here are three examples of 12-word texts:****

We plan to video the students April 17,18, 23 and the 25th at school. We
will communicate directly with the students about signing up to come in
during a free period. ****

PHOTOS: ****

We ask that each family submit:

- Up to 12 photos as possibilities for your child's sequence.
- We'd love to have lots to choose from and we will not use all 12 photos,
so if you do not have 12 photos to send, please don’t be concerned; just
send in as many as you can.****

- Each senior will have equal time (about 20 seconds) in the video.****

- School pictures, candid shots--- whatever photos help best say “this is
me”****

Work with you child, asking him/her to think about the 12-words they will
write and say and see if some of the pictures can complement those words.***

Please send:

up to 4 from baby/toddler****

up to 4 from 8 - 10 years old****

up to 4 from junior and/or senior year****

*Each photo should feature the student *only* (not with friends or family).
If your child joined your family as an older child, send whatever photos
you would like. If you need assistance scanning older photos, please
contact Jill at jill@jilldrew.com or 202-525-8884. ****

Please submit all photos *no later than April 30. * It will be very helpful
to us to receive them sooner.****

To submit your digital images: go to *
https://dropbox.yousendit.com/sidwell2012*. You should see a template that
says "Send Files Easily and Securely to Jill Drew." Type in your name and
email address. In subject line, type the student's name exactly as you'd
like it to appear in the video (we will have a title page with each
student's name). ****START NEW WORDING**** In the message box, tell us how
many images you are sending in total. Then click the button on the form to
choose a file to upload. Finally, click the "send it" button at the bottom
of the form. ****RETURN TO CURRENT WORDING****Each file must be less than 2
gigabytes. Please be sure each image includes the student's name in the
file name -- we don't want to mix up pictures. ****

Photos will look best if they are 300 dpi and any video is high-definition.
But don't worry if you don't know the specs. If we are concerned that some
images are too fuzzy, we'll contact you. ****
