Dear President’s Council member,

I hope you had a great Memorial Weekend and were able to rest and enjoy time with your family.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank those of you who were able to attend our last meeting which featured Charlie Cook speaking about the inside scoop of our upcoming election. I am sure you found it to be not only education, but entertaining, as I did.

This is a follow up to the volunteer opportunities our new President’s Council chair, Dresden Koons, presented. We are pleased to announce the following volunteer service experiences that will be available to you as a President’s Council member. Please take a moment to review the description and, if interested, sign up to participate.

St. Maria’s Meals: The Saint Maria's Meals Program was created to provide a warm and nutritious meal to individuals and families in our care. Volunteers serve meals, assist in the set up, and breakdown of the weekly program. Saint Maria's volunteers also have been known to share stories, smiles, and words of encouragement with participants. Every third Wednesday of the month, we have reserved (4) four volunteer spots just for you. Those dates are as follows: June 15, July 20, August 17, September 21, and October 19. Please email or call Lisa Paro (lisa.paro@catholiccharitiesdc.org<mailto:lisa.paro@catholiccharitiesdc.org> or 202-772-4336) to reserve your spot by noon prior to the Friday before each Wednesday date. This will allow us to secure volunteers should PC members not be available to serve.

Angel Tree Program: The Angel Tree Program is a Christmas gift giving program to assist the children of the clients we serve. Last year, over 800 children had gifts to open on Christmas morning because of the generosity and compassion of people like you!

In addition to “adopting a family”, we are also in search of two “Archangels” (lead volunteers) to spend approximately 10 hours per week from mid-October to mid-December leading and managing the Angel Tree program. Again, please email or call Lisa Paro (lisa.paro@catholiccharitiesdc.org<mailto:lisa.paro@catholiccharitiesdc.org> or 202-772-4336) if you have any questions about Angel Tree Program or if you are interested in becoming an Archangel!

In the next couple of weeks I will be sending to you updates on our programs. I will be very interested in your opinions and feedback relating to these issues.
