Dear Board Members, We have some exciting news to share. Pope Francis is coming to WFP’s headquarters on Monday, June 13th. It is his first visit to WFP, and indeed the first ever Papal visit to WFP. The Pope will address WFP’s Executive Board, which as you all know is made up of representatives from UN Member States, and will then address WFP staff, which will be webcast to Country Offices around the world. We are expecting the address to the Member State representatives to be about action to end hunger, and this may likely be a call for the world to do more to reach Zero Hunger. We will be supporting WFP’s social media and press outreach efforts, as well as distributing a statement connecting the Pope’s remarks to WFP USA’s efforts around the humanitarian crisis initiative. We’ll keep you apprised of more updates on this exciting development as they come about.
