Skip, Great job done by all! This is a time of year when everyone is energized and I'm hoping that we are able to grow our organization with continued optimism and success. As the flowers bloom, so do we! Happy Spring, Sherry "For in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet, we all breathe the same air, we all cherish our children's futures, and we are all mortal." .....John F. First, Mike Smith and Hunter Biden organized a fantastic March Madness fundraiser at Nationals Park last Thursday. A good time was had by all. One of the attendees enthusiastically remarked that it was the best event he had been to in Washington, DC in 13 years. The Nationals were great hosts and partners and our sponsors were terrific. It was also nice to meet our fundraising goals. There is already excitement for next year's event. You can see pictures of the event here: http://bit.ly/GTcTBP (more pictures will be added over time as Washington File processes them). In addition to Hunter, Mike and 148 of our closest friends, we had former board member Doug Davenport in attendance. Finally, we got a nice piece about the event on Fox News. You can see that coverage here: http://www.myfoxdc.com/dpp/health/nats-open-park-for-prostate-cancer-fund-raiser-031612 Robin Sparrow is busy right now preparing for the One Lap of America race he does each year. His Pennies for Prostate's golf tournament sold out in record time and will be held April 28, 2012 in northern Virginia. Robin is on track to have his best fundraising events yet. We will shortly be sending Dr. Tom Moody the local proceeds of last year's Great Prostate Cancer Challenge race in Birmingham, AL. In addition to raising more than $18,000 for ZERO's national efforts, he raised $18,732 for his Urology Health Foundation in Birmingham to test men in under-served areas. The 2012 Birmingham Great Prostate Cancer Challenge race will be held on September 15, 2012. In May we will be sending the AUA Foundation the local race proceeds from Dr. Sandy Siegel's Baltimore Great Prostate Cancer Challenge. Dr. Siegel's group is just two years away from fulfilling its $750,000 pledge to the AUA Foundation to create a perpetual Chesapeake Urology scholarship for a young urologic professional. The 2012 Baltimore GPCC will be held on September 9 at Towson University. Mitch Laurance traveled to New York City to film a brief video "annual report" for the Laura and John Arnold Foundation. ZERO was selected by the LJAF to participate and the foundation paid all expenses related to the video. The purpose of the video library is to provide a more in-depth but personable set of information for other foundations and philanthropists looking to fund innovative organizations. We will send the link to the completed video when it is posted. Jill O'Donnell-Tormey had an excellent title change to Chief Executive Officer and Director of Scientific Affairs at the Cancer Research Institute. Tom Quinn and his daughter, professional snowboarder, Mackey Quinn are working with Evan Denhart to add another set of golf tournaments for the organization. Stay tuned for more information about our Father's Day weekend Golf-A-Thon. Sherry Galloway will hold the Jeremy Paster Memorial GPCC on May 12, 2012. Raoul Concepcion will be holding the 2012 Nashville Dash for Dad on June 16. Jonathan Schwartz will be participating in the Atlanta Dash for Dad on June 16. ZERO will be exhibiting at the AUA Annual Meeting in Atlanta, GA, May 19-23, 2012. In other notes, we will have 33 races/events this year as part of the Great Prostate Cancer Challenge/Dash for Dad. We have also learned that the branding/marketing company we are working with to streamline our brand offerings should complete its work by the end of June. Don't forget to put August 17-18, 2012 on your calendars for the Know Your Score Celebrity Golf Tournament. We have a great array of celebs already lined-up and are looking forward to filling-out the field in the next couple of months. Our new Facebook page has gone live under the new timeline format. We are once again the largest US prostate cancer organization on Facebook. According to our FB statistics we are reaching 365,000 people a week. Attached is an updated Board contact list. Last but not least please make your reservations now for the Annual Board Meeting on Wednesday, June 6, 2012. Please remember this meeting is mandated by the organization's by-laws and it is the time where we vote on board membership and organizational officers. We also need to complete a final vote approving the merger/acquisition of Par for Life. I hope you are all healthy and enjoying the beautiful Spring weather before it gives way to a sultry summer.
