This is it.

I’m about to step onto the stage in Largo and declare my candidacy to be the next Governor of the Great State of Maryland.

Together we started a journey six years ago to move Maryland forward. Because of you and the leadership of Governor O’Malley, we’ve made tremendous progress.

Now, we have to build on it. We have to keep our economy growing, strengthen our schools, from Allegany to Suitland, and continue working to make sure that everyone has access to health care.

We need to build on the progress we’ve achieved together and continue working as one to make Maryland better for all Marylanders. But to do these things, we have to win.

Our goal is to raise $25,000 in the next four days to start our campaign in the strongest position possible. Will you stand with me?

We can’t grow complacent. We must continue to make our state the best it can be.

Too many people still can’t find full-time employment, too many of our neighbors continue to face foreclosures, and, for too many businesses, the national recession has dealt a blow from which they’re still recovering.

Our work, together, must begin by ensuring economic prosperity for all Marylanders. We’ll build strong communities and support strong families by growing Maryland’s economy, creating jobs in all of our neighborhoods, building the most competitive workforce, and developing Maryland’s business community. Maryland needs leadership willing to make the difficult choices – and to fight for a better future. I will do that, but I need you.

The brave men and women that I served with in Iraq knew that we couldn’t finish the job alone– we knew it took a team, an army of people working together. The same is true for this campaign. I need your help right now.
