Quite honestly, I don't think she knows why she wants this -- old talking point, feeling that WFP is overseeing USA. The only real question she raised was giving our money to non-WFP groups. We're taking care of that as well.

Partly I think this is real (looking for more money from US) which we can do better. Part of it is pure ego--wants higher profile here. (We should think about whether there is something we can deliver to her on this. Kind of a painful idea, but would demonstrate we're in her corner).

This is the right solution in that it provides the kind of "insight" she needs and should want. We are being transparent about revenue and grants as well as overall finances.

If there are more detailed questions based off her review of the 990, am sure we'll be able to deal with them.

Attached is the breakdown of WFP USA grants for the period 2011-2013. As previously noted, over 99% of our grants were provided to WFP. In addition, the document includes a link to our 2013 IRS Form 990. The Form 990 includes detailed information on our budget, allocation of expenditures among the different activities (G&A, fundraising and program) and other related information. It provides a high level of transparency on the finances and operations of WFP USA. The Form 990 is prepared by outside auditors following an independent audit of our finances. A draft of the 990 is carefully reviewed by the Board's Audit Committee (line-by-line at a meeting specifically scheduled for this purpose) and is reviewed by the full Board prior to filing with the IRS. It is available for public review through the IRS, state regulatory agencies and our website. It should address the request for information about the organization.
