Wednesday - September 7, 2011 From the School Message from Lee Welcome to School Year 2011/2012! In addition to Thursday morning coffees, I’ve scheduled evening conversations with me for parents of each grade both in the fall and in the spring, and I look forward to working with all of you on behalf of your children. Each Wednesday, I’ll send a reminder in the newsletter of the upcoming events for the week. Please see below for what’s scheduled for the near future. · Thursday, 9/8/11 - 12th Grade Parents Conversation with Lee, Old Smith Meeting Room, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The discussion will focus on the senior year experience above and beyond the college process. · Friday, 9/9/11 – Parents Association Welcome Receptions · Thursday, 9/15/11 – 9th Grade Parents Conversation with Upper School Administration, Dining Room, 7:30 am to 9:00 am. This will be an informal opportunity to share questions, concerns, and suggestions with administrators and other parents. · Thursday, 9/22/11 – Upper School Back to School Night, Athletic Center, 6:45 pm to 9:30 pm. Parents will have a chance to meet their child’s teachers and hear about classes by going through a shortened version of their child’s schedule. More information will be provided closer to the event. Peace, Lee All-School Athletic Meeting: Wednesday, September 7th at 7:45 am Please come to the first All-School Athletic Meeting of the school year TODAY, Wednesday, September 7th at 7:45 am in the Athletic Conference Room. Anne Renninger will be there to announce updates in the athletic department and to answer questions. SFS Home Football Game, 2:30 pm Saturday, September 10th Come cheer on the Quakers as they open the 2011 Sidwell Friends School Football season at home against the Yellow Jackets from Randolph Macon Academy this Saturday, September 10, 2011. Kickoff is at 2:30 pm. Plan to arrive early for the best seats. The concession stand will be open, selling hot dogs, snacks, and drinks. GO QUAKERS! Admissions Office Announcement In an effort to work more closely with current families who are applying a child for the 2012-13 academic year, the deadline to submit Part I, the Application Form, is October 1, 2011. All supplementary material to complete the application is due by January 15, 2012. The online application is available at www.sidwell.edu/admissions/application-materials.
