Biographical Information

Matthew H. Tueller will begin his new position as Ambassador of the United States to Kuwait in September 2011. A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, he most recently served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo.

Since joining the U.S. Foreign Service in 1985, other overseas assignments have included Political Minister Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq; Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait City, Kuwait; Political Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Chief of the U.S. Office in Aden, Yemen; Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Doha, Qatar; Political Officer at the U.S. Embassy in London; and Political Officer and Consular Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Amman, Jordan. His Washington assignments have included Deputy Director in the Office of Northern Gulf Affairs and Egypt Desk Officer.

Ambassador Tueller holds a Bachelor of Arts from Brigham Young University and a M.P.P. from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
