See below, apparently Nick Calio let Randy go (among others) as lobbyist for ATA. EXCLUSIVE ... CITI WITH WINGS? Nick Calio is eight months in as the head of the American Transport Association and already the lobbying team is being recast inside and out in the mold of his former stomping ground, Citigroup. Most recently, Christine Burgeson, a former White House and Citigroup lobbyist, joins ATA as SVP of global government affairs. She worked for Calio at both Citigroup and in the White House. Calio on Burgeson hire: "ATA is building a world-class government affairs and policy team and Christine is a critical addition; she is a first-rate strategist and a proven leader. She is well-known and well-liked by members of both parties." He's also changed up the group's outside consultants, hiring Breaux Lott Leadership Group and Elmendorf Ryan this year, both of whom worked for him at Citi. The trade group did a nearly wholesale cutting of its contract lobbyists at the end of 2010 and early 2011. Mehlman Vogel Castagnetti, Morhard & Associates, Utrecht & Phillips, Cormac Group and Russell & Barron, all filed lobbying terminations over that time. Calio has also gone beyond Citi to revamp ATA's presence. He's hired Sean Kennedy, former White House lobbyist and chief of staff to Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), and Christopher Brown from Manatt Phelps & Phillips, among others. Eric D.
