Dear Friends,

Many of you children have asked Sophie what the appropriate attire is
for her Bat Mitzvah on September 10th.

On Saturday morning, boys usually where Khakis or dress pants and a
button down shirt; (many boys this age wear a tie and a blazer, a suit
is not necessary). Girls need to be dressed modestly as they are
attending a religious service (which means no spaghetti straps and an
appropriate length skirt or dress; nice slacks are fine for girls).

Saturday night is party attire. That is a bit easier for the girls to
figure out (sleeveless and spaghetti strap dresses are fine as are
shorter length skirts and dresses than they wore during the day).
Saturday night, guys should not wear jackets and ties but khakis or
dress pants and dress shirts or collared shirts. The kids should be
comfortable in their clothing and have fun.

We also thought it would be helpful if we reiterated some of the
logistics that were included in the invitation.

Morning services: Services begin at 9:30am. There are several
simultaneous services at Adas Israel Congregation. Sophie's Bat
Mitzvah will be in the Traditional Egalitarian Minyan, in the Gewirz
Hall (the location will also be posted on the electronic bulletin
board inside the synagogue). Torah services will begin around 10 am,
so please try to be seated in the sanctuary by that time. Please
remember that all electronic devices must be turned off while in the
sanctuary. At the conclusion of the service, we will go downstairs to
the Kay Hall and adjoining spaces for a Kiddush luncheon. Parents may
pick up their children at Adas Israel between 1:30 and 1:45pm. Drop-
off and pick-up are easiest at the side entrance of the synagogue (on
Quebec street) or in the parking lot.

Evening celebration: The celebration continues in the evening at
Adas Israel Congregation at 8 pm. To make drop-off and pick-up as
easy as possible for parents, we have arranged for a staffer to be
curbside at the Quebec Street entrance to Adas Israel at the time your
child will be dropped off and picked up. Supervised drop-off will be
available between 7:50 and 8:20 pm and supervised pick-up will take
place between 11:15 and 11:30 pm. To take advantage of this, parents
should pull up to the Quebec Street entrance of the synagogue. The
staff person will be outside that door, greeting you and supervising
your child’s safe entry into the building. At 11:15 pm, your child
will be escorted back to the same door to wait for pick-up.
