Biographical Information His Excellency Mohammad A. Safadi was appointed Minister of Finance to the Government of the Republic of Lebanon in June, 2011. Prior to his appointment, he was Minister of Economy and Trade from 2008 to 2011. Mr. Safadi previously held the position of Acting Minister of Water and Energy from 2007 to 2008 and Minister of Public Works and Transport from 2005 to 2008. From 2000 to 2005, Mr. Safadi has was president of the Lebanese Section for the Arab Common Market, member of the Finance and Budget Commission, member of the Economy Commission, head of the Lebanese-German Parliamentary Friendship Committee, and head of the Lebanese-Kuwaiti Parliamentary Friendship Committee. Mr. Safadi became an active Member of Parliament in 2000. Mr. Safadi is also Founder and Honorary President of the Safadi Foundation, a non-profit organization that deals with social, medical, environmental and educational issues and focuses on the development of individuals' capabilities. Mohammad A. Safadi has been awarded the order of the Knights Cross by the French Republic and the order of Merit Cross by the Republic of Germany. He graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from the American University of Beirut.
