This month has been a whirlwind, team -- in the best possible way.

Just a few weeks ago, when Fred asked me to join this team, I had a lot of decisions to make and priorities to weigh. I had to think about my senate district that I love fighting for and representing in the legislature. I had to think about the time, commitment, and lifestyle changes I'd have to make, and how that would affect my family.

But most of all, and most importantly, I had to think about how much I could do for Iowans like you. How much I could help. How much more I could do for my neighbors in Big Rock and Wheatland, the teachers that go above and beyond for their students, the labor union members that aren't getting a seat at the table, the folks out there (like some of my own family members) not getting the care they need because of Medicaid privatization, and the small business owners and children that aren't being treated with the respect they need to be as successful as possible.

I thought about how much more I could do as Iowa's next lieutenant governor -- and I dove right in.

But, in order for us to take this campaign to the next level, and achieve everything we need to in the next few months, I was asked to write to you today to ask you to chip in -- whatever you can spare, to help us hit our end-of-quarter goal.

I know you're just getting to know me, and that takes time -- but I want you to know what I'm on this team to do, and why I'm fighting for Iowans like you. I didn't take on this challenge lightly, and I don't do anything half-way. I'm in this for the same reasons Fred is: because I know we can make real change for Iowans that need it, and build a better future for our children, grandchildren, and future generations.

Last week I was out on the road with Fred and getting acquainted with the team, and I have to tell you: this is not just a campaign. It's a drive for Iowans like you. We met hundreds of people ready to get going and fight for the blue wave we need to create together -- and I know that in every corner of our state, there are more people like them and you, ready to put our hearts and heads together to make our state a better place.

So, can we count on your support to power this movement and make this change by chipping in right now? We simply can't do it without you.
