Today marks the 242nd year since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It’s easy to get lost in the fanfare of Independence Day, but we need to remember that we’re celebrating the day our nation said we won’t be pushed around by an out-of-touch leader any longer. That fight is still raging today in America, and that’s why I’m running for Congress now.

We need leaders who understand that America has never been perfect, but are always pushing for a better union. Today we will remember the time in our history when we declared ourselves independent from rulers who sought to oppress us nearly two-and-half centuries ago. But I would urge you to also think about how we can do the same again this year at the ballot box. It’s time for us to retake our country again.
