Dear Hunter,

The recent tragedy in Newtown Connecticut has put the spotlight on gun violence in the United States and provided us with an opportunity to broaden the dialogue around an issue that has plagued our urban centers for decades now. As Maryland's chief law enforcement officer, with more than 20 years of experience fighting crime, and as President of the National Association of Attorneys General, our office is uniquely situated to bring together experts on the issue of gun violence and generate proposed solutions. Over the next few weeks, we will be doing just that. I'd like to ask you to be a part of the discussion as well - because we all have a vested interest in reducing gun violence in Maryland.

We all want and deserve safe communities, and we all need to be a part of the solution. Please email us at yourvoice@ganslerformaryland.com to share your ideas as we engage in a much needed conversation about responsible gun ownership and put together a set of proposals for reducing gun violence in Maryland. To get the dialogue started please read my op-ed that appeared in today's Baltimore Sun. Thank you very much for adding your voice to a very important national conversation.
