USGLC Board of Directors,


I know there are many strong opinions about today's nomination of Senator Chuck Hagel for Secretary of Defense. Some of our coalition members have concerns and others have been very supportive, including several members of our National Security Advisory Council.


On the specific issue of smart power and the International Affairs Budget, Senator Hagel has been a strong and consistent supporter. He led the bipartisan letter in support of a robust International Affairs Budget when he was in the Senate and has served on the USGLC's Advisory Council since leaving Congress. In 2006, we honored Senators Hagel and Paul Sarbanes as they retired from Congress at our annual dinner.

Hagel Nomination Continues Administration's Commitment to Smart Power

Nominee Strong Voice for Strengthening Civilian Capacity

Washington, DC -The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition released this statement from Chairman Dan Glickman and Executive Director Liz Schrayer on President Obama's nomination for Secretary of Defense:
