Friend – as a politically engaged young Iowan, one of my heroes growing up was Senator Tom Harkin. He spent a career in public service fighting to make Iowans’ lives better. Nothing showed that passion to give people a helping hand up more than the Americans With Disabilities Act, his historic legislation which became law 27 years ago today.

And today, on the anniversary of this landmark law for civil rights, the Senate will be voting to make life dramatically worse for tens of millions of Americans by repealing the Affordable Care Act. Here in Iowa I’ve been a fighter for the rights of all, and I intend to take that fight to DC.

We need to get back to the days of our elected leaders fighting to make life better for the people they represent. That’s why I’m running for Congress, and it’s why I need you in this fight with me by chipping in to help me hit my end of July fundraising goal! http://bit.ly/2tDH6Tj

It’s unfortunate that the partisanship in Washington has gotten us to this point. The fact that Republicans like Rod Blum are recklessly voting to hurt Americans just so they can finally say they repealed ObamaCare is disgraceful.

We need to be working together to make life better for hard-working Americans and our most vulnerable.

That’s what I’ve done in the Iowa House, and it’s exactly what I intend to do in Congress.
