Every day, the future of Iowans' healthcare becomes more uncertain. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Republicans in Washington just released their latest scheme to repeal Obamacare, insurers are still threatening to pull out of the individual policy market due to chaos in DC, and Governor Reynolds' Medicaid privatization scheme continues to disrupt care for working families.

What’s crystal clear is that Iowa needs a plan that works for Iowans -- no matter what happens in Washington. As governor, I'll implement a Medicaid for all plan that will allow every Iowan to buy into Medicaid and give them access to quality, affordable care.

But Iowans shouldn't have to wait.

Allowing Iowans to buy into Medicaid will help increase local competition and stabilize the market by insuring that our future isn't completely bound to the whims of insurance companies -- or Donald Trump.

It's a common sense idea that's already won support in states like Nevada, and it's gaining ground across the country.

There's no reason Iowans should be left behind, but putting a Medicaid for all plan into effect will take real leadership -- or a lot of public pressure.

If Governor Reynolds wants to continue standing with President Trump instead of standing with Iowans, it's up to us to turn up the pressure.
