After a phenomenally successful run this spring, we are once again turning over the keys to The Garage to three of the most innovative and exciting young Chicago theatre companies on the scene today. Sideshow Theatre Company, The Strange Tree Group and UrbanTheater Company will present three new productions in rotating repertory in The Garage at Steppenwolf beginning February 16, 2011.

"These are three companies with wildly different aesthetics, but who all bring an irresistible energy to their work," says Polly Carl, Steppenwolf's Director of Artistic Development.

In a waiting room for the afterlife, we find a dreamscape filled with poignant monologues from recently deceased individuals. This Midwest premiere by award-winning screenwriter José Rivera asks: "Where do we go when we die?" And if you were to offer commentary regarding the life that you've lived, "What would you say?"

A unique aspect of the First Look Repertory of New Work, First Look 101 is a three-month experience that takes enrolled participants on a backstage journey through all aspects of the new play development process - from the first rehearsal to the final performance. The program is open to anyone interested in the process of creating new plays.
