Peter Gertler and I are coming to DC for meetings on Thursday, August 22. We’re hoping to meet with some of the appropriations staff to get a feel for the outlook for High Speed Rail funding and program. We’d also like to get together with your team to review HNTB successes and priorities, as well as share any info on Amtrak that could be of interest to the HSR program. If you don’t already know him, I’d like to invite along Levon Boyagian who HNTB uses for government relations work on the Hill and Administration. Lev is a former T&I Committee GOP staffer.

Todd – I have been in contact with several approps staffers on both sides of the Congress. The Senate Trans approps subcomm is schedule to mark up that week and the dem staff can’t meet. Ellen on the R side has offered 2PM on the 21st as tentative. We will need to be as flexible as we can. On the House side I am still waiting on Syliva Garcia to contact me back.

I will let you know when I hear more.
