Dear R.,

I hope you and your family had a Happy New Year and I wish you well in the coming year.

We wanted you to be among the first to know that Lt. Governor Brown and I will be hosting an Inaugural Celebration on Wednesday, January 19th and we would love for you to be a part of it. In recognition of the challenges that many Maryland families are facing, we decided to make the celebration less formal and more accessible than it has been in the past. As we join together for the "We Are One Maryland" celebration, we also ask that you bring with you a canned food item for donation to the Maryland Food Bank.

This past year presented us with many challenges, and while our path forward has not always been an easy one, there is still so much to be thankful for; the best public schools in the nation, a Chesapeake Bay that is finally on the road to recovery and the lowest rate of violent crime in 35 years.

But there is still much work to do as we begin this transition into a new year and a new economy, and I'm looking forward to continuing our work together as we make progress on our shared priorities.

I look forward to seeing you at the celebration.
