Democratic AGs to file health care amicus brief Republican attorneys general in Florida, Virginia, and elsewhere drove the early legal challenges to the constitutionality of last year' health care overhaul. Now, Democratic attorneys general are inserting themselves into the legal battle. The AGs of California, New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Iowa, and Oregon are filing a friend-of-the-court brief in the appeal of the Michigan case Thomas More Law Center v. Barack Hussein Obama, one of a handful moving through the court. The case, like others, challenges the individual mandate. The Administration won in the district court, but the conservative legal group is appealing. The attorneys general, including longtime Obama allies California Attorney General Kamala Harris and Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller, are hosting a conference call tomorrow morning to roll out the brief.
