Dear VoteVets.org Supporter,

Happy New Year to all of you! As we got through our transition in leadership for the year, as Jon deploys to Iraq and Ashwin becomes acting chairman, we wanted to review all you did last year and our plans for this year.

First, at the end of the year, you raised over $5000 for the Yellow Ribbon Foundation, which eases the time of the wounded and their families at Walter Reed. We know they are very appreciative of your generosity.

Also, we saw some huge successes at the end of last year, because of your hard-fought efforts.
* We finally have passed a repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell! After years of intense efforts, the rules will soon be changed, so that service members no longer have to lie about who they are, so they can serve. This will make our military stronger, and we have you to thank.


* The National Defense Authorization Act was passed, which funds our troops for the coming year, meaning those in the field will have the tools they need.


* And, the 9/11 First Responders Bill was passed, an issue that affected many veterans, who also served in the rescue and clean-up after 9/11 – an issue we ran an ad on, late last year.
During last year's campaign, we raised over $1 million from you, to push issues of importance to troops and veterans.

This year, we plan on being incredibly active. As you know, the House of Representatives and Senate will see some significant changes – but one thing we're committed to seeing NOT change is the progress we've made for veterans over the past few years. We'll protect that progress, while fighting for further action on issues that affect our troops, veterans, their families, and our national security.

We'll need you to be right there with us.
